Two Days Training Programme
On
“Mushroom Cultivation for Improving Farmer’s livelihood”

        5 & 6th February 2026:ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Mizoram Centre, Kolasib had organized two days training programme entitled “Mushroom Cultivation for Improving Farmer’s livelihood” from 5th-6thFebruary, 2025 under AICRP on Mushroom Project. A total of 15 selected farmers (14 Female and 01 Male) from different villages of Kolasib district (Thingdawl and Kolasib) have attended the training program. The primary goal of the training program was to give the learners hands-on experience in mushroom cultivation for their livelihood. Theory and practical instruction were given by experts (scientists and YPs) of ICAR, Kolasib. The training program gave special emphasis on spawn preparation technique, technique for preparing the substrate, infrastructure needed to establish a mushroom farm, cultivating and managing crops, management of diseases and pests, post harvest handling/value addition and economics of mushroom cultivation. At the valedictory function, there was a fruitful discussion between farmers and scientists along with input distributions (50 Lit Plastic Drum) to the farmers through Dr Sunil Doley, HoRC (Mizoram). Dr. Vikas Pali PI of AICRP Mushroom gave vote of thanks at the end of the program whilst emphasizing on mushroom health benefits and significance of mushroom production for raising farm income. He concentrated on generating year-round revenue through mushroom cultivation. Overall, the program was well organized and executed
